On Sunday 12th November 2017, I'm joining the Istanbul Marathon to raise money for KEDV, a brilliant women's organisation that has been working across Turkey for over thirty years.
KEDV (which stands for the Foundation for the Support of Women's Work) is a truly inspiring organisation, which runs a range of innovative programs to support the economic and political empowerment of women at the grassroots. Recognised as a leader in the field of community-based development, KEDV's work has involved championing the women's cooperative movement, setting up Turkey's first ever micro-credit program for low-income women, and pioneering an award-winning model for women-led childcare and education services (for more info, you can check out their website at www.kedv.org.tr/en)
Not only is KEDV an organisation deserving of your support, I need your moral support too! This is going to be my first race in more than three years, and in that time I've got married, changed continents and had a baby. The prospect of putting on my running shoes again is pretty daunting, but I'm determined to do it!
Anything you can contribute will be hugely appreciated - and will make a big difference!
